Jason arrived early to check on the status of the work. He said that Schneider Stone would be here between 10:00 and noon to measure for the countertop. He also told me that Moon’s Flooring will be here on Tuesday of next week (Day 29) to estimate the cost of refinishing the floors.
Keith, the new drywall and painting guy, arrived about 45 minutes later at 9:15. Keith’s commute to Carrboro is about an hour and a half from near Wilson, NC. (And I thought my workday commute to Research Triangle Park was a pain.) Keith looked over the unfinished drywall work and headed off to pick up supplies. He totaled up the number of gallons of paint that we’ll need. Betty has settled on her color choices so we’re ready to move forward their as soon as Keith calls for the paint.
Paul and Amber arrived at 10:00 to start installing window #3. They were both looking much livelier than they were yesterday. Betty provided them with tea, lemon and honey yesterday to help them warm up and soothe their throats. I’m sure that the Blue Star Bees honey in the tea is the curative factor.

- Window #3 – Installed at last!
The countertop guy arrived shortly after noon. He set up his laptop, his tripod mounted laser scanner and went to work. It was fascinating to watch! I told him that my brother-in-law had renovated his kitchen, but I doubted that he had such high tech equipment to measure for his countertop. He told me that very few of professional contemporaries had such high tech equipment. Cutting edge stone guys!
- LASER assisted measurement
- Laser targets to define angles
