Let’s start the day with what is really important – bees and flowers.
Today was partly sunny and warm. Temps in the mid-70’s. So we stopped thinking about the renovation project and walked downtown for breakfast at Elmo’s Diner. Later I jumped into the beehives to see how things are going with their spring renovation projects. The focus and direction of the bees in their colony was a refreshing change from the chaos and confusion of the workers in our colony. They actually know what they are doing.
But things did happen today in our house, too. The backsplash tile is now in place. Despite yesterday’s extended discussion of tile and installation, Jason did not install the tile as promised. Plans change so fast in The Bath Shop world! Instead Diana arrived to introduce us to Rodriguez, the tile installer du jour. Fortunately Rodriguez and his team did a great job and managed to knock it out in a couple of hours. Who knows what happened to Jason?
- Corner detail
- Schluter® hides the edges of tile to provide a cleaner transition to the wall.
- Subway tile awaits range hood
The new kitchen will be very white – bright white subway tile, white cabinets, faux marble quartz countertop. We’ll need some splash of color here and there to break up the arctic chill.
We had lots of leftover tile. One unopened box will be returned for credit. The extras in this partially used box will be stored away in case we need replacements during future renovations. Not likely!
