We made up for some lost time today. Good thing, too, since tomorrow it is supposed to snow. EVERYTHING comes to a halt in NC when it snows.
Gastón was the first to arrive. First order of the day was to continue removing popcorn from the first floor bedroom and bath. To make his job even more challenging, the cabinets were delivered. Welcome to what is now known as our ‘living room warehouse.’ One more obstacle to work around.
More daunting challenges lie ahead for Gastón when he tackles the ceiling popcorn above the stairwell and the vaulted ceiling over the dining area. But that is reserved for another day.
One of the cabinets arrived damaged. The damage is visible on the drawer face if you click on the pic to the right.
When the carpenters arrived they decided to tackle the window over the sink first. It is the largest of the 3 new windows and extra muscle was needed to lift it in to place. Shawn joined Paul and Amanda to help. I think it proved more of a challenge than expected as they had to fight the prickly hollies behind the window. The final touches on the kitchen windows took place well after darkness had descended. The “Done” picture below was taken the morning of the following day – Day 9. No work will done on Day 9. Everyone is taking a snow day.

Today the area where the moldy/mildewed sheetrock was removed was repaired. Ideally, Gastón will be able to step into the kitchen on his next visit and get it fully prepped for cabinet installation. Late in the day today he worked on the ceiling on non-window side of the kitchen to smooth out the areas where the soffits had been cut out.
