Days 18, 19, 20, & 21 – Trouble in contractor paradise? NO WORK DONE!

On Friday, Jason, the project manager, pulled Paul off of our renovation project to finish up a job somewhere else. So no progress on Friday. Later Friday afternoon, Jason advised us that Paul would be back on Saturday to pick up the cabinet doors to take them back to “the shop” for protection during the balance of construction and the painting. That didn’t happen.

Paul’s construction trailer has been parked in front of our house since Day 7. On Saturday, he came by to pick up the trailer. Not a good sign! But he still has a ladder or two lying about so who knows whether he will be back.

Jason sent email late on Friday to let us know the proposed schedule for the week. The final window is supposed to be in by the end of the day on Tuesday. Painting is supposed to start Wednesday. Then again this morning we received another email from Jason to let us know that Paul was “out today.” I suspect that Paul and Jason are having differences of opinion about Paul’s work schedule.

To recap where we were supposed to be (according to Jason) vs where we stand now (my updates):

Original Tentative Schedule (January 8)

  • Tuesday (January 9) – demo
  • Wednesday (January 10) – Electrical And Window start (windows not started until January 15)
  • Thursday (January 11) – plumbing and continue windows
  • Friday (January 12) – inspections and finish windows (windows still not finished as of January 29)
  • Monday (January 15) – Drywall
  • Tuesday (January 16) – finish drywall (not finished until January 22)
  • Wednesday (January 17) – Friday cabinets (base cabinets not fully installed as of January 29)
