Days 42 and 43 – A Full House

As promised, the electrician showed up early on Day 42 and got right to work installing the undercounter LED strips, lighting up the circuits to the range, dishwasher and refrigerator, and cutting holes in the ceiling to install the LED cans above the sink.  He was here most of the day and will be back tomorrow to finish up.

Late in the afternoon we had a surprise visitor. Tom the Plumber, who wasn’t due until tomorrow, actually arrived a day early. He had finished up another job nearby. Since he had a couple of hours to kill before the end of the day he thought he’d get a jump on tomorrow’s work. Amazing!

I was so flabbergasted at having 2 trades in a single day that I forgot to take pics to document Day 42 progress!

On Day 43 both Tom and Alfredo were back in action before 9:00. Keith arrived around 9:00 to continue painting. So we had a full house – 3 trades. They managed to work without stepping on or over each other. Tom installed the dishwasher and disposal and ran them through their initial cycles to make sure everything works. Alfredo installed the microwave and a new vanity light in the bathroom.

When the day was over and most of the appliances were in place it was clear that the refrigerator (the only appliance that we chose to keep) was fighting the feng shui of the room. A quick Google search revealed that there is such a thing as a “counter depth” refrigerator. Who knew?! Clearly not us or Diana, The Bath Shop’s designer. So a new counter depth refrigerator has been ordered. When it arrives it should tuck discreetly into its assigned niche. We will need to find a good home for its predecessor.
