Now the truth can be told. There is no BIG reveal. Only a reveal. And that was postponed because Betty’s sister was coming for a visit and Betty wanted to preserve the ‘Wow!” factor for an in-person visit.
So here is the lowercase, no exclamation point – wow.
Honestly, this was The Bath Shop’s all out effort to finish by March 5th – the end of the 8th week of their original 6-8 week completion schedule. I was in New Bern with my head deep in bee lore so I wasn’t around for the sprint across the ‘almost finished’ line. Betty says that Paul and Amber put in a heroic effort on Friday, Day 54. She headed off at 5:00 for dinner with neighbors followed by a Cheryl Wheeler concert in Chapel Hill. When she returned at 11:30 she was dazzled by the progress. She guessed that Paul and Amber probably worked until 10:00 to 10:30 at least.
Still there are unresolved issues. But today we can celebrate that it is starting to look like a kitchen again. No parades, no fireworks, not even sparklers – maybe a crumpled party hat, but a kitchen again is not a bad thing.

It’s beautiful!
Glad you like it. Stay tuned!
I agree. It looks great! Have you cooked in it yet? Tell us about the first meal.
I have used the stove. Twice. But carrying things up and down the stairs to get in and out of the refrigerator while we wait for completion takes the joy out of cooking. Isn’t there a book with that title? Since the renovation crew was running behind schedule we told the dining table folks to chill so we have no dining table until the end of March. Another post tomorrow. It was an eventful day.
