The Monterey Bay Aquarium was a much anticipated pleasure. Betty had visited the aquarium over 15 years ago on a business trip to the Asilomar Conference Center which is located on the Monterey peninsula. She was so impressed at the time that she wanted to share it. In the 15 year interim, the aquarium has been on steroids. Betty barely recognized it. It has doubled in size and has undergone one or more major renovations. It is a wonder to behold! Flash photography is prohibited and the exhibits are dark – like the undersea environment – so our pictures here were kept to a minimum. But we each managed a few. The jellyfish exhibits were eerily fascinating. Of all the things that we experienced on this trip the Monterey Bay Aquarium stands out as a singular experience. It is worth a trip all by itself!

Watching the Sea Nettles was mesmerizing.
We ate lunch at the aquarium before heading off on our Pacific Grove Walkabout. The fruit in California was delicious everywhere. But only here did we encounter monster strawberries. Betty had to document this one’s size before she devoured it.
