We begin our travel as we always do – with Betty passing along our itinerary a day or two before we board the plane. Of course it has all been planned out in her mind for months, but as the day of departure approaches the final itinerary crystallizes. Only then do I tune in to the “what, where, and when” details so meticulously worked out by my travel planning partner in life. That’s why she is smiling. She knows where she is going.

Move to the Hotel Ca d’Oro in Venice for 2 more nights where we will be joined by Kathy & Don. Our 10-day small group tour begins today.

Cinque Terre, two nights at Hotel Souvenir.
June 1-7
Tuscany, 6 nights at Agriturismo Il Colombaio, a villa in Montegabbione.
June 7-9
Rome, 2 nights at Hotel Residenza in Farnese (on our own with Kathy & Don)

Fly back home, via Chicago

Alas, no ninety year old, ‘end of the world’ because the Mayan Calendar is expiring Nancy on this trip. Our Venetian hosts are fine young people like ourselves. We’ll meet our fellow tour-ists next week.
