Giulio, proud son of Venezia that he is, found it amusing that I was so interested in the municipal services operations of Venice. Apparently none of their prior guests found photo ops in the trash and recycling collection systems of Venice. He was concerned that all of the beautiful sites that his home city had to offer were taking second seat to municipal services.
Certainly Venice is beautiful. Everyone knows that. We’ve all seen the pictures in tour books, on the Internet, in movies, and in the pictures that our traveling friends bring home. Just to reassure Giulio and everyone else that I haven’t over looked the beauty of Venice I offer the following.

Venice is a city of 120 islands connected by foot bridges. Most have a church and a central square. This is but one of those churches.

I found the garbage collection pretty darn interesting myself 🙂 Everyone takes pictures of the pretty things, but unique ways of collecting garbage isn’t so often captured and I enjoyed it!
